PLEASE READ BEFORE ORDERING
Every Amanda Starr Couture piece is individually created using pre-existing garments, reclaimed components and carefully selected new materials.
One of a kind: Each piece has its own history, design and individual characteristics.
Sizing: Please check the measurements provided in each listing. Garment measurements are not body measurements.
Change of mind: We do not offer change-of-mind returns or exchanges for Australian purchases, including where an item does not fit as expected despite accurate published measurements.
Your consumer rights: Nothing in these policies excludes your rights under Australian Consumer Law or other mandatory laws that apply to your purchase.
1. ABOUT OUR PIECES
Amanda Starr Couture creates individually designed wearable art using existing garments, reclaimed textiles, jewellery components, decorative trims and selected new materials.
Our collections include jackets, bags and jewellery, each produced as a one-of-a-kind piece or in very limited quantities.
Our designs may feature hand painting, embroidery, stitching, appliqué, lace, decorative trims, beads, brooches and other embellishments.
Because we work with pre-existing materials, some pieces may show minor signs of their previous life, including softened fabric, patina, tonal variations, small marks or evidence of earlier wear.
These characteristics contribute to the individuality of each piece. Any known material damage, significant wear or functional limitations will be disclosed in the individual product listing.
We inspect each piece before offering it for sale.
2. PRODUCT DESCRIPTIONS & PHOTOGRAPHY
We aim to describe and photograph each product accurately, including its design, measurements, fabric composition where known, condition and embellishments.
Colours may vary slightly depending on your screen settings and lighting conditions.
Where materials cannot be reliably identified, we will not make unsupported claims about their composition.
Please review all photographs and product details carefully before purchasing.
If you would like additional photographs, measurements or information, please contact us before placing your order.
3. SIZING & MEASUREMENTS
Our jackets are often created from existing tailored garments, including men's blazers.
Original manufacturer sizes may not correspond with contemporary Australian women's sizing.
Each jacket listing includes available garment measurements, such as:
Approximate Australian size
Shoulder-to-shoulder width
Underarm-to-underarm width
Jacket length
Sleeve length, where applicable
Measurements are taken by hand and are approximate, with a general tolerance of up to 1 cm unless otherwise stated.
We recommend measuring a jacket you already own and comparing those measurements with the product listing.
For bags and jewellery, dimensions will be provided where relevant.
Please contact us if you require additional measurements.
4. PRICES & PAYMENT
All prices are displayed in Australian dollars (AUD), unless otherwise indicated.
Prices include GST only where applicable.
Shipping costs and any applicable additional charges are shown before payment is completed.
Payments are processed securely through the payment providers available at checkout.
We reserve the right to correct genuine pricing errors before accepting an order. If payment has already been taken and an order cannot be fulfilled, the applicable amount will be refunded.
5. ORDERS & AVAILABILITY
Most Amanda Starr Couture pieces are one of a kind, with only one available for purchase.
Adding an item to your cart does not reserve it.
Occasionally, an item may sell through another channel before our inventory updates.
If an item becomes unavailable after you have placed an order, we will contact you and arrange a full refund for the unavailable item.
We will never substitute another piece without your agreement.
6. SHIPPING & DELIVERY
Amanda Starr Couture is based in Sydney, Australia.
We offer domestic and international shipping to destinations available at checkout.
Processing and dispatch
Ready-to-ship pieces are generally dispatched within 3–5 business days after payment confirmation.
If additional preparation is required, we will contact you.
Delivery
Shipping charges and available delivery options are displayed at checkout.
Delivery estimates depend on the destination and carrier. Delivery times are estimates unless a specific delivery date has been expressly agreed.
We use tracked shipping where reasonably available.
International orders
International customers may be responsible for import duties, customs charges, local taxes or clearance fees that are not collected at checkout.
These charges are determined by the destination country.
Please check your country's import requirements before ordering.
Delivery problems
If your parcel is delayed, lost or damaged in transit, please contact us at amanda@amandastar.com with your order number.
We will investigate and assist in resolving the issue in accordance with applicable consumer laws.
Please retain packaging and photographs where an item arrives damaged.
7. RETURNS, EXCHANGES & REFUNDS
Change of mind
Because our pieces are individually created and generally one of a kind, we do not offer change-of-mind returns, exchanges or store credit for Australian purchases.
This includes situations where:
You change your mind after purchasing.
You decide the colour or style is not suitable.
You purchase the wrong item.
The garment does not fit as expected despite accurate published measurements.
You find a similar item elsewhere.
This policy does not affect your statutory consumer rights.
Faulty or misdescribed products
Our products come with consumer guarantees that cannot be excluded under Australian Consumer Law.
If a product has a problem covered by those guarantees, you may be entitled to a repair, replacement, refund or other remedy depending on the circumstances.
For a major failure, you may be entitled to choose a refund or replacement. Because our pieces are one of a kind, an identical replacement may not be available.
For a minor failure, we may offer a repair within a reasonable time, as permitted by law.
We will not impose restocking fees or processing charges for remedies required by law.
How to report a problem
Email amanda@amandastar.com with your order number, a description of the issue and photographs where helpful.
Please contact us before returning an item so we can provide instructions.
Where the law requires us to cover reasonable return costs for a faulty product, we will do so.
Your statutory rights are not restricted to a fixed number of days after delivery.
International cancellation rights
Customers outside Australia may have additional mandatory rights under the laws applicable to their purchases.
For eligible online purchases by consumers in the United Kingdom or European Economic Area, applicable laws generally provide a 14-day withdrawal period after delivery, followed by a further 14 days to return the goods.
Exceptions may apply, including for certain genuinely personalised or made-to-order goods.
To exercise an applicable withdrawal right, contact amanda@amandastar.com within the required period.
Where permitted by law and disclosed before purchase, customers are responsible for direct return shipping costs for change-of-mind withdrawals.
Any refunds, including applicable standard outbound delivery charges, will be processed in accordance with the mandatory laws governing the purchase.
8. CARING FOR YOUR PIECES
Our designs combine original garments and components with decorative elements that may require special care.
Jackets
Follow the care instructions provided in the individual product listing.
Handle hand-painted, embroidered and embellished areas gently.
Remove detachable brooches or accessories before cleaning where instructed.
Avoid excessive rubbing, pulling or abrasion against decorative elements.
Do not machine wash or tumble dry unless expressly permitted in the product listing.
Seek professional cleaning advice where appropriate.
Jewellery
Avoid exposure to water, perfume, hairspray and cleaning chemicals.
Store carefully to prevent tangling or damage.
Handle reclaimed chains, beads, charms and delicate components gently.
Keep jewellery away from small children.
Bags
Avoid excessive weight and strain on decorative handles or attachments.
Protect embellished surfaces from abrasion and moisture.
Follow any item-specific care instructions.
The instructions in the individual product listing take precedence over these general recommendations.
Damage caused by misuse or failure to follow reasonable care instructions may not constitute a product fault. This does not affect consumer rights relating to an existing defect or premature failure.
9. RECLAIMED MATERIALS & SUSTAINABILITY
Amanda Starr Couture celebrates creative reinvention and the transformation of existing materials into something new.
We prioritise reusing garments, textiles and components wherever practical.
Some pieces also incorporate newly sourced trims, threads, paints, fastenings and decorative materials.
We do not claim that every component is recycled, environmentally neutral or sustainably manufactured.
Our approach is to extend the creative life of existing pieces through individual design, repair, embellishment and reinvention.
10. JEWELLERY SAFETY
Our jewellery is designed as an adult fashion accessory and is not suitable for children.
Some pieces contain small components, including beads, chains, charms and detachable embellishments.
Reclaimed jewellery components may have unknown metal compositions.
Unless specifically stated, we cannot guarantee that jewellery is hypoallergenic or nickel-free.
Please discontinue wearing an item if irritation occurs.
11. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
All original artwork, photography, graphics, written content and designs remain the intellectual property of their respective rights holders, including Amanda Starr Couture and collaborating artists, where applicable.
Purchasing a piece transfers ownership of the physical item but does not transfer copyright or other intellectual property rights.
Customers may wear, style, photograph, gift or resell their purchased items.
Unauthorised commercial reproduction of protected original artwork, photographs or designs is not permitted.
12. PRIVACY & CUSTOMER INFORMATION
We collect information necessary to process orders, arrange shipping, communicate with customers and meet our legal obligations.
Payments are processed through third-party payment providers.
Customer information may be shared with service providers where necessary to fulfil an order, including payment processors and delivery carriers.

13. LIABILITY & CONSUMER RIGHTS
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes, restricts or modifies any right, consumer guarantee or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded.
We are not responsible for loss caused solely by customer misuse, unreasonable handling, unauthorised alterations or inaccurate delivery information, to the extent permitted by law.
This does not exclude liability for our negligence, breach of contract, unsafe products or failure to meet applicable consumer guarantees.
14. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS
We may update these policies from time to time.
The terms in effect when an order is placed will apply to that purchase, subject to mandatory law.
Changes will not retrospectively remove existing customer rights.
15. GOVERNING LAW & DISPUTES
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of New South Wales and the Commonwealth of Australia.
This does not remove mandatory consumer protections that apply in another jurisdiction.
If you have a concern about an order, please contact us first so we can work towards a fair resolution.
Australian customers may also contact their relevant state or territory consumer protection agency, including NSW Fair Trading.
